The number of people who are without a job varies from place to place the world over. In some cases it is the person?s personal choice to choose not to work but in others, they have no choice. This can be for many reasons: bad health, no opportunities and lack of jobs available. Have you ever taken a moment to think what it must be like for those who cannot find work? It is not always as good as it may first seem.
The unemployed have a heavy psychological burden to bear. This can lead to them having feelings of low self-esteem and a feeling that they are worthless. Those who seek help from the Social Welfare Department have to endure the complicated application procedure and the inhumane and harsh means test. The procedure to apply for assistance is not as easy as one would imagine.
This puts the unemployed under great pressure. I do not believe that maintaining a policy of minimal government intervention will stem rising unemployment. The Government should make its invisible hand in the market become visible by, for example, creating more job opportunities for the unemployed; ensuring age and sex discrimination do not exist in the workplace, restraining employers from exploiting employees - in the way that some employers do by taking on casual staff and making them work long hours for very little pay.
By bringing these ideas into action a lot sooner than usual, many people can be helped out of the lonely quarter that is unemployment.

Those who have benefitted from these courses have been those moving or investing overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people who love to travel all over the world, those interested in English culture, and those who just want to pass a specific examination in English.

The English courses are also available for 2 or more people studying together (Two-to-One English Course or Small Group In-Company English Course). All participants must have the same level, the same business or general language needs and be able to study at the same time in the same location. The booking must be made for all participants at the same time. Listen & Learn do not recommend group classes of more than 6-8 people although In-Company Taster English Courses can be run with up to 12 people.
