English Facts
English is a pluricentric language, with no dialect considered 'official', and with no authority that governs and preserves it
English spoken in the USA and the UK differ plenty, in vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation; though it is easy for speakers of either to understand the other
The worldwide spread of English is primarily thanks to the reach of the British Empire and the USA's growing worldwide influence after the Second World War
Our English speakers, fully qualified to teach their native tongue, can train you and, if need be, the rest of your group at a time that is suitable to you, at your home or place of work. Sessions can take place on the day of your choosing - even weekends - and at the time you want: whether it be morning, afternoon or evening. If circumstances arise where your home or office is not convenient, the classes can be held at your trainer's office. Resources for the course are provided for you.
Book now / InquiryEnglish courses of this type are aimed towards those that need to learn English to aid them with their employment. For those just starting out, it is integral to learn basic greetings and business etiquette; and reading and writing can be adopted once the simple precepts are out of the way. Success has come from students who are involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, those seeking jobs in multinational companies, and those working with foreign colleagues, academia and bureaucracy. Just our most basic beginners course will have the student finishing the course with basic telephone/e-mail skills in English, as well as survival English should a short stay in the country be needed.
Book now / InquiryThese courses in English are wider-ranging in their nature, and are driven towards students who have a variety of differing needs. All beginner students will expect to study enough survival English to get them through a short visit to the country, those staying on with the course can progress differently, depending on their individual requests and requirements. Whether you are buying property in a foreign country, married to a foreign national, planning a round-the-world trip, interested in English history and culture, or if you simply want to attain a particular level of English, this is the choice for you.
Book now / InquiryCourses in English are also accessible for 2 or more studying in tandem (Two-to-One English Course or Small Group In-Company English Course). All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs of areas of proficiency, and must be able to work at the same time and place. Bookings must be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn do not advise classes of more than 6-8 people, although In-Company Taster English sessions can be run with as many as 12 people.
