Japanese Facts
Japanese vocabulary is scattered with loan words, mainly from English, Chinese and Dutch
Japanese uses three different alphabets simultaneously - 'Hiragana' and 'Katakana' are syllabic writing systems for Japanese and non-Japanese words respectively; then there is 'Kanji' - Chinese characters that simply have to be learnt to be understood
Japanese has its own system of grammar which emphasizes politeness and formality
Our native speaker qualified Japanese language teachers can train you and your colleagues at your office or home at a time to suit you. Classes can be any day of the week (even weekends) in the morning, afternoon or evening. In certain circumstances, if your home or office is not suitable, you can take your classes at the trainer's office. Course books are provided.
Book now / InquiryThese Japanese lessons are driven towards people who have a requirement to learn Japanese to bolster their work output. For novices, you will find it useful to learn basic greetings and business etiquette; and once you have become more proficient then reading and writing will come to the fore. Typical students include those concerned with import/export, those seeking work in multinational companies, international negotiations, and anyone working with international colleagues or administration. Even on our most rudimentary beginners course, students can expect to finish the course with decent telephone and e-mail Japanese, as well as a good enough grip on the language for a short trip to the country.
Book now / InquiryThis set of Japanese tutorials are less specific and more targeted at those who want to get a range of different things from learning Japanese. Even though all novice students will cover survival Japanese: enough Japanese to make a visit to the country or make good contacts with the locals, but what do you do from there? It depends on your needs. Those who have benefitted from these courses have been those moving or investing overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people who love to travel all over the world, those interested in Japanese culture, and those who just want to pass a specific examination in Japanese.
Book now / Inquiry2 or more people can benefit studying Japanese together as these Japanese courses are also offered to groups (Two-to-One Japanese Course or Small Group In-Company Japanese Course). Every student must have the same degree of knowledge of the language, the same business or language needs and the ability to study at the same time and place as everybody else. The booking has to be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn do not advocate group sessions of more than 6-8 people, though Taster Japanese Courses can be experienced by up to 12 people.

Charlotte
Charlotte is the biggest city in North Carolina, with just under 700,000 residents, and is notable for being one of the fastest growing sizeable US cities. Traditionally a railroad hub and center for cotton-spinning, Charlotte is today the second biggest international banking nerve center outside of New York city. The population has a varied racial background, with a large African American contingent, as well as sizeable groups of Spanish, Indian, Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese speakers, amongst many others. This makes it far easier for Charlotte residents to pick up a new language, providing not only a strong basis for finding good teachers but also a host of opportunities for daily practice.
Japanese Testimonials
"I took some Japanese classes back at college but never learned to read and write. I picked up where I left off with my teacher from Listen & Learn and I can now read basic Japanese pretty well - I've got a long way to go is great and lessons are always really helpful."
